Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds set up for global release this summer

[ad_1]

Mobile gaming giants Netmarble have announced that its entry into the popular JRPG franchise Ni No Kuni, Cross Worlds, is set to launch this summer. Having been out in Southeast Asia for some time, the game features many mechanics that come straight from the series it is based on, alongside a fully original story and some beautiful 3D anime-style visuals.

Ni No Kuni is an interesting series, having branched off into about a billion different storylines between its two entries so far alone. Cross Worlds specifically deals with the story of your self-insert main character venturing into a virtual reality video game that takes place in a high-fantasy setting with warriors and knights and all that jazz. However, as you progress across the VR world, you’ll come to realize that the game in question is actually connected to the real world that your character lives within.

This is not exactly a fresh concept, especially in a world where Sword Art Online exists, but given the pedigree with which we’re working, it’s safe to assume Cross Worlds has put its own spin on things without much trouble. The original Ni No Kuni was a pokemon-esque title featuring catching monsters and using them to battle within a world that was heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli movies. The plot ended up quite nice and genuinely emotional, so it’s not a stretch to say Cross Worlds will end up having you heavily involved in the storyline.

As for gameplay mechanics, we can look at the Japanese launch to gather some facts, and learn that Cross Worlds is an MMORPG featuring all the usual things such as leveling up, party systems, an in-depth social system, and gear collection. It has also gathered some pretty favourable reviews in the SEA region, so any RPG fan should keep a keen eye out for this version if you’re located in the West.

Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds is set up to launch globally this summer, and will be available on both iOS and Android devices. For now, you can stay up to date on the game by following the website or the official Twitter as well. If you’re looking to get into it in the meantime, you can find the SEA version on TapTap right now.
