Netflix Wants To Add 30 More Mobile Games In 2022

Of all companies, the streaming service Netflix is offering mobile games through its subscription. Since November 2021, Netflix has added 18 games that subscribers can download and play. However, the company is not going to stop there. According to The Washington Post (via EuroGamer), Netflix is going to add as many as 30 more mobile games by the end of 2022.

Right now, the streaming platform offers games like Asphalt Xtreme, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Trivia Quest, This is a True Story, and several more. When you tap on the game, you’ll automatically be taken to your OS’s respective app store to download the game. If you have a subscription to Netflix, you’ll be able to freely download the game and play it.

But Netflix wants to add on more mobile games by the end of the year

Netflix is doubling down on this venture to more than double the available games by the end of the year. By the end of 2022, we could be looking at around 50 games to come from the company. This does say a lot, as these games seem to come from Netflix’s own studio(s). However, Asphalt Xtreme looks like a partnership with Gameloft.

Right now, it’s hard to say just other games are projected to come out, but we can expect some of them to be based on Netflix originals’ characters. There are already two games based on Stranger Things. When more games come out, you’ll definitely hear about them.

Netflix really wants to integrate games into its business structure

A streaming service offering games is something of an oddity, but it seems to be working. In a statement to The Washington Post, a person close to the matter said that Netflix is looking for “content opportunities around video games from every direction”.

There’s been an underlying emphasis on gaming by Netflix, and most people didn’t really see it. The company has adapted several game franchises as original shows such as Cuphead and The Witcher. Not only that but some of its hit shows were turned into games like the Stranger Things games.

This all hints at Netflix making a turn and focusing a lot on the gaming community. It’s not only looking to focus more on gaming; it’s looking to build a platform where gaming and TV shows/movies are integrated with one another. Netflix is looking to create shows/movies that have a video game counterpart and vice versa.

We’ll have to see if that will work, as the company is in a bit of a tight spot. It’s lost about 200,000 users over the past couple of months. Not only that, but the company’s stock price took a massive nosedive. It will need to find a way to slow down this decline.
