Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has new DLC on the way in the form of its upcoming Booster Course Pass. Over the next couple of years, fans can look forward to nearly 50 tracks that have been remastered from past titles.

With the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass, you’ll be able to race on 48 newly-added remastered courses. Courses include those based on real-world locations like Paris Promenade and Tokyo Blur from the Mario Kart Tour game in addition to nostalgic favorites like N64 Choco Mountain and Wii Coconut Mall!
Content will be released in 6 waves of 8 courses from March 18, 2022 until the end of 2023.
Can I play the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content if I don’t have the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game?
The full Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game is needed to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass, which is sold separately.
How can I get access to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass in order to play the content?
Beginning March 18, 2022, users can either purchase Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass in Nintendo eShop for $24.99, or download it at no additional cost with a paid Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
Users who want to purchase the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass can pre-order it from Nintendo eShop before March 18, 2022. It is not necessary for users who want to download the pass at no additional cost with an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership to pre-order it.
No matter how the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass is downloaded, courses will be released in 6 waves of 8 courses until the end of 2023.
What are the differences between the two methods of getting the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass?
Players who purchase the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass DLC can play it indefinitely. For members of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, it is possible to play the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content for the duration of an active membership.
If you do not renew your membership for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, it’s not possible to play the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content unless it has been purchased separately or you begin a new Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
The save data for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is stored on the console, so after becoming a member of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack again (or purchasing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass separately), it is possible to continue playing where players left off.
Can I still play the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content after the end of my Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership if I haven’t purchased it separately?
Unless purchased separately, it’s not possible to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content after the end of a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
The save data for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is stored on the console, so after becoming a member of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack again (or purchasing the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass separately), it is possible to continue playing where players left off.
Can other users on the same Nintendo Switch play the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content if I’m the only Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack member?
If you have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Individual Membership, the account with the membership must launch the game in order to play the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content. An internet connection may be required when launching the game to verify your Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership and access the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content. After launching the game with the correct account, the courses will be available to play in local multiplayer modes with other users on the same Nintendo Switch system.
With a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Family Membership, all accounts that are part of the Family Group can play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content for the duration of their membership. To access the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content, an internet connection may be required when launching the game to verify your Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
Can other users on the same Nintendo Switch play the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass courses if I’m the only one who purchased the the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass?
If the DLC is purchased separately, other users on the same console can also play the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass content when the console on which the contents are played is set as the Primary Console of the account that purchased it. On any other console, it can only be played on the account that purchased it.
Can I play courses included on the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass online even if I haven’t purchased the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass and I am not a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack member?
As long as at least one of the players you are matched with online has access to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass, it is possible to play on one of the included courses if players vote for it.
A Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) is required to play online, and your Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game must be updated to the latest software version.
The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC will officially debut on March 18, 2022 with its first wave of tracks, with eight courses going live that day. Seven additional waves will follow in the future.
